On 1-11-25, the Seattle Times penned an editorial about the upcoming State's Legislative Session needing to deal with the budget crisis in a constructive way, and on that date the Enlightened Prisoner responded thus:
You must realize our State's Sales Tax is the primary source of income for our state's operating revenue, yet our elected legislators are terrified to use it for increasing revenue. So, each year while our state's employee level increases, and their wage and benefits increase, and the costs of providing them space, equipment, etc., the legislators sneak in new Sur Tax methods to make up the difference. Seems to me the new governor is trying to find a way to even the financial playing field without embarrassing the legislators for their timidity.
